This was me at my heaviest. Considering the food on the table it’s easy to see how I got to this point. The picture below is me minus 35 pounds and feeling great!

Meet Mayumi

Just a little about myself and how my journey toward optimal health began:

In my early years I worked in various restaurants in Oregon and San Francisco (for a total of over 17 years), and for 7 years I worked as the director of a Bay Area Cooking School. After my second son was born I decided to branch out on my own, so I could enjoy a more flexible schedule and spend more individual time with my students. This is why I started Fork&Knife Creations.  My company has evolved over the years, mainly because I have.  I still teach people how to cook nutritious foods, but now I offer so much more!

In the past, regular exercise was not a part of my life, after all, I wasn’t feeling bad or gaining weight (yet!).  I ate and drank pretty much whatever I wanted and my weight remained the same up until I had my second child.  After that, the pounds slowly started piling on.  Each year I was gaining a pant size and I was having a hard time doing the activities I enjoyed.  I didn’t realize how much weight I had gained until I saw a photo of myself.  I finally had enough and decided to enlist the help of a personal trainer at my local gym, and happily the weight began to come off.  I lost 10 pounds right away, without changing my diet a bit.  I cooked at home a lot, but I was still eating fast food and I had all kinds of processed foods in my fridge and pantry.  I loved to bake and regularly indulged in homemade cookies, muffins, and whatever other sweets I craved.

After I hit my first plateau, I did some research and found that I needed to change up my routine if I wanted to continue getting results.  Well, it worked and my weight loss continued!  Then again, another plateau.  This time I thought about improving my diet, as exercise alone wouldn’t be enough to reach my goals.  My mother died of cancer at age 56 and through my studies in nutrition, I knew that cutting out certain foods and replacing them with healthier choices, plus lowering my weight, I could reduce my cancer risk (among other diseases). With these additional changes my weight loss continued and my health improved.

To this day I have maintained my fat loss and have continued to improve my health and fitness. I am looking forward to working with you to achieve your personal goals.  If you are ready to start, please give me a call or send me an email.

Sincerely,
